UPRIGHT

A man and woman raise their cups to each other beneath the caduceus crowned with a lion's head. The Two of Cups is the meeting of two — the recognition between equals, the romantic or creative or professional bond that begins when both parties offer their cup at the same time. The card honors symmetry.

REVERSED

Reversed, the Two of Cups is the meeting gone awry — affection unequally offered, a partnership in which the cups no longer raise together, or a small misunderstanding hardening between two people who used to drink as one. The remedy is direct conversation, not assumption.
