Six of Swords
UPRIGHT
A boatman ferries a cloaked woman and child across still water toward a distant shore, six swords planted in the bow. The Six of Swords is the passage from hard country to better — quiet movement, the leaving of trouble, the slow water that carries grief away rather than fighting it. The card honors the crossing.
REVERSED
Reversed, the Six of Swords is the crossing delayed, or the swords brought along that should have been left behind. The card can name a person trying to escape a situation while still carrying its weight, or one whose ferry has been called back to the shore they thought they were leaving.
