Six of Pentacles

UPRIGHT

A merchant weighs coins in a scale, dispensing alms to two kneeling beggars. The Six of Pentacles is generosity, but generosity with structure — the giving that flows because there is enough, the receiving that is honest about its need. The card honors the right proportion between hand and hand.

REVERSED

Reversed, the Six of Pentacles is generosity with strings, or giving used as a form of control. The card can name a benefactor whose help comes with leverage, a recipient who has begun to depend rather than recover, or the querent's own confusion of guilt with charity. The scales need rebalancing.
