Nine of Cups
UPRIGHT
A satisfied man sits with arms crossed before a curved table on which nine cups stand in a row. The Nine of Cups is contentment, the wish fulfilled, the small smug pleasure of having what one wanted. The card is sometimes called the wish card, and it rarely lies about that.
REVERSED
Reversed, the Nine of Cups is satisfaction curdled into smugness, or a wish granted that turns out not to have been the right wish. The card can name a person who has gotten what they asked for and discovered the asking was the problem, or one who is performing contentment they do not actually feel.
