MAJOR ARCANA
XVIII · Major Arcana
The Moon
UPRIGHT
The Moon hangs full above a road that runs between two towers, a dog and a wolf howling beneath her, a crayfish climbing from the pool onto the path. The card is the territory of dream, illusion, and what the daylight mind cannot fully parse. The road is real, but it passes through country where things are not what they seem.
REVERSED
Reversed, the Moon is the illusion dispelled — sometimes a relief, sometimes a loss. The card can name a truth surfacing after a long deception, a fog beginning to lift, or, conversely, a person doubling down on the illusion when the dawn was already approaching. The crayfish either climbs onto the path or slips back into the pool; both endings are written here.
