The Lovers is not only romance but choice — the moment of conscious union, the decision that joins two paths into one. The card always implies a third presence: the value that the union serves.

REVERSED

Reversed, the Lovers is misalignment — a partnership entered for the wrong reasons, a choice made under pressure, a union that looks right from outside but does not hold its own weight. The card can also mark indecision itself, the inability to commit to either tree, the long paralysis of wanting both.
