UPRIGHT

The angel Gabriel sounds the trumpet from the clouds and the dead rise from their coffins with arms lifted, their faces turned up. Judgement is the call to a larger life — the reckoning that is also an invitation, the summons that asks the querent to answer for who they have been and to step into who they are now ready to become.

REVERSED

Reversed, Judgement is the call unanswered or the reckoning refused. The card can mark a person who hears the trumpet and lies back down in the coffin, unwilling to face the audit. It can also name harsh self-judgment that prevents the rising itself — the verdict delivered before the trial. The trumpet keeps sounding regardless.
