MAJOR ARCANA
VII · Major Arcana
The Chariot
UPRIGHT
The Chariot rides out from the walled city with a black sphinx and a white sphinx harnessed before it, the driver crowned with stars and armored in the sky. The card is willed motion — the disciplined holding-together of opposing forces in service of a single direction. Victory here is not given; it is steered.
REVERSED
Reversed, the Chariot is the reins dropped — momentum lost, opposing pulls allowed to scatter the cart, a campaign that began with clear purpose and has lost its line. The card can also name force applied without direction: a person racing forward without having decided what they are racing toward.
